Obituary for Concetta "Connie" Reavey (Miano)
Connie Reavey entered eternal peace on April 7, 2017, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Connie was born to Carmelo and Vincenzina (Valvo) Miano, November 28, 1930, in Poughkeepsie, NY. She graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and earned her business degree from Albany Business College in 1950. She was employed at Schatz Federal Bearing, 1950-1957, where she met her husband, William. Connie worked at Dutchess Community College from 1980 until 1984. She then began her long career at Vassar College, retiring from the VC Career Development Office in December 2010. During her time at both campuses, she made many friends among the faculty, staff and students, and thoroughly enjoyed her many years in academia.
Throughout her life, Connie’s focus and source of happiness was spending time with her family, as well as countless hours in her garden.
Her beloved husband, William E. Reavey, whom she married September 30, 1956, predeceased her September 2, 1997.
Connie is survived by daughters Karen (Michael) Santulli, Delanson, NY; Susan (Hans) Meinhardt, Bristow, VA; and Mary (Steven) Ragone, Albany, NY. Survivors also include grandchildren Ashley (Nabil), Sarah, Mary Beth, William, and Evan, step-grandchildren Derek, Alyssa, Melanie, Crystal, Holly, Tiffany, and Madeline; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mary & George Niznik, and sister-in-law Nancy Bono, all in Poughkeepsie; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 11:00AM, Regina Coeli Roman Catholic Church, 2 Harvey Street, Hyde Park. Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to William G.
