Vinnie Sacerdote, of Brewster, NY, passed away on April 11, 2017, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Vinnie was born to Vincenzo and Immaculata Sacerdote April 15, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY. He married the girl next door, Rosemarie Sauer, June 10, 1951, who predeceased him August 5, 2003.
Vinnie began his life-long career as a 14-year-old in his brother’s sheet metal shop. He became a proud member of SMWIA Local 28 and rose to become a master draftsman. Among his proudest professional accomplishments, he was a design team member for New York’s Twin Towers HVAC system. True to his Italian heritage, he enjoyed the fruits of his wine cellar, good food and conversation. He became an avid gardener when he moved the family from the City to the small town of Brewster in 1973 in order to provide a safer home for his loved ones. A gruff man at times, his family and neighbors knew they could count on Vinnie. Whether it was plowing a driveway in a snow storm, assisting with house repairs or providing financial help, he was there when needed.
Vinnie is survived by his brother John (Ray) Sacerdote, Brooklyn, NY; his son Vincent (Patty) Sacerdote, Poughkeepsie, NY; and daughters Barbara Sacerdote, Seattle, WA; Denise (Bill) Thompkins, Elizaville, NY; and Lynne Sacerdote, Kingston, NY. Vinnie is also survived by grandchildren Kyran, Ondine, Morgan, Kristin, Emma, and many nieces and nephews. His brother Edward Sacer predeceased him in 1981.
A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be scheduled for September 2017. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wm. G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. If you would like to send an online condolence, please visit our website at www.wmgmillerfuneralhome.com.
