Obituary for Sanford H. Metlis

It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Sanford H. Metlis at the age of 90.
Sanford (known as Sandy) was a resident of Poughkeepsie, NY for the past 15 years. He passed on Tuesday, April 18th, surrounded by loved ones, and in the thoughts and prayers of those near and far. Sandy spent his childhood in Brooklyn, NY. He served his country in WWII and has always been a passionate supporter of this country’s service men and women. Sandy moved to Larchmont, NY in 1965 with his first wife Lois (deceased). He had a long and successful career in Marketing. He was instrumental in the promotion of Stewart International Airport in New York, Bangor International Airport in Maine, and the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Sandy enjoyed spending his retirement volunteering at Vassar Hospital as well as the Mended Hearts organization. He was passionate about both roles and was committed to helping others.
Sandy is survived by his wife of 30 years Beverly, and his children, Marc and Leslie Metlis, Julie and Robert Wojda, Michael and Patti Crudele, and Frank and Susan Crudele also a sister: Hennie Meisel. He is loved by his grandchildren, Benjamin, Brian and Sarah.
Sandy was loved by many, and his sense of humor and his great smile will be sorely missed.
Services will be Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11AM in Vassar Temple, 140 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Rabbi Leah Berkowitz will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
