Condolences

Condolence From: Judy VanVoorhis
Condolence: Gone too soon. Condolences to Kens family and staff. Dined at South side many times with my late husband. Now go with friends or sons when in town. Always felt welcome and enjoy meals.

Condolence From: Andrew Schmidt
Condolence: I am a Friday night regular at Southside for many many years (along with Jim, EJ, Gilbert, Jimmy, Charlie, Brian, Eddie,...) and was terribly upset to learn about Ken's passing when I was out of state in New England last week. I had seen him just hours before he entered the hospital and was shocked. I know from personal experience how he was devoted to his business and customers. My most sincere condolences to his family.

Condolence: We are so saddened to hear the news of Ken's passing. My Mom, Vivian & I enjoyed many delicious lunches there. He was so kind to his customers. He treated them like his family. He always teased me about me being a #48 Jimmie Johnson NASCAR fan. I'd bring my own memorabilia including a #48 car to decorate our booth. He'd walk by & w/out missing a step, he'd turn my car upside down! Such great times! We love & miss you Ken!

Condolence: We met Ken about 15 years ago when our son was attending Marist College. Ken's welcoming warmth and comforting delicious food brought us back to his restaurant as much as possible. We reside in Danbury which made it difficult for more frequent visits, and always kidded Ken for him to open a second restaurant close to us.

It is great to see how many people were touched by this admirable man. I'm sure all of these people will carry a part of him in their lives.

Condolence From: Sally & Artie Rivenburgh
Condolence: My name is Sally Rivenburgh and I used to work with Gene at IBM for many years. My husband and I have been in the Cafe a few times and met Ken. He would go in the kitchen and bring out Gene (if he was there of course) to chat with us. We were very impressed with what a wonderful young man he was. We are so very sorry for your loss and even though your hearts are broken - may you find some comfort in the memories of love and laughter you shared. With deepest sympathy to you all.

Condolence: Ken helped me tremendously when my husband (who frequented his restaurant) passed away after his Laura passed. He was so comforting in his words. Thank you Ken. And when I frequented the restaurant with my children for their birthday, he would always say something sweet to them. Thank you Ken. He would always take my credit card ahead of time so my kids wouldn't pay, He was so thoughtful and kind. I will miss Ken so very much.
