Obituary for Dorothy J. Jenkins

Dorothy J. Jenkins, 67, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 2nd, at Vassar Hospital. Born March 29, 1950 she was the daughter of the late Albert Lewis Tompkins Sr, and Pearl M. Grey Tompkins.

Dorothy worked at Taconic D.D.S.O. as a therapy aide until her retirement. She took great pride in her work and truly enjoyed taking care of the residents that she worked with. She made everyone that she cared for feel special, and was well known for her strong will and great sense of humor and huge heart. Her most cherished role in life was that of Mom, and Grammy, and no one did it better.

She is survived by her sons Richard A Jenkins Jr and his wife Jenna, of Millbrook, and Michael J. Jenkins Sr. and his wife Nicole, of Poughkeepsie. She is also survived by her 6 beloved grandchildren who were the light in her heart and always brought a smile to her face, Michael Jr, Hunter, Isabella, Giana, Reese and Brady.

Also surviving Dorothy are siblings Anna Heck of Dover Plains, Mary Finley of Dover Plains, Sylvia Rhodes and her husband Nick of Washington, Mervin Tompkins of Dover Plains, William Tompkins and his wife Mary Ann of Millbrook, Kevin Tompkins and his wife Rose Marie of Verbank as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased by her ex-husband Richard A Jenkins Sr, brothers Albert L. Tompkins Jr, Jimmy Tompkins, and sister Karen J. Johnson.

A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, August 9th, 2017 at the Valley Bible Church in Lagrangeville at 7pm.
