Condolence From: Janet and Howard Winn
Condolence: For Wendy and Joan: Our sympathy for you both. Both Kurt and Lore were very dear to us. Kurt was such a caring person, concerned for others, and so loyal. He did a tremendous lot for music in the area and he was a pleasure to work with. We spent some lovely summer vacations on the Cape with Kurt and Lore, and we're just grateful to have known him. Fondly, Janet and Howard

Condolence: I was fortunate to have met and worked with Kurt (and Lore) Grishman during my tenure with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic's administration in the 1980's. I learned much from both of them and add my condolences. Kurt was a most gracious and insistent teacher, a dedicated musician and tireless advocate for the traditions he loved. Our HV community was indeed lucky to have had him among us for so long. His musical children will endeavor to carry on his steadfast commitment. Thank you, Kurt, for your kindness, gentle strength, and excellent example of survival in a difficult world.

Condolence From: Bill Sepe
Condolence: I'm very sorry for your loss. In reading Kurt's obituary, I immediately wished I had spent more time with him. He was an early and reliable supporter of the bridge project to create the Walkway Over the Hudson as well as a customer of my handyman repair service for his investment properties. He treated me, and his tenants well and with respect. He was a good man that I wish I had spent more time with. May he rest in peace.

Condolence From: Benedikt Kellner
Condolence: I have many fond memories of Kurt, mostly from the Gilbert & Sullivan Musical Theater Company [I was in both of the "Die Fledermaus" productions that he conducted (1986 and 1999).], but also in more general musical territory. He was clearly tireless in his desire to share his musical enthusiasm with the whole area. Peace, Ben Kellner

Condolence From: Nicholas Warren -- President, Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society
Condolence: Dearest family of Kurt Grishman, On behalf of the Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society as the President, Babette Hierholzer as the Artistic Directorr and all of our Board, I would like to extend our very deepest sympathies to you in this time of great sadness. Our hearts truly go out to you all. Speaking personally, regrettably I had never met Kurt, but I know his name so well every time eI open up our Program for the season, as well as being familiar with the amazing achievement he put in place in founding us and setting us on our way to almost 40 seasons of tremendous success. That was a truly amazing achievement, without any doubt. He sounds like a wonderful person and music lover. I really feel as if I knew him as an esteemed "ancestor." Please let us know how the Board of the Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society can help you al, in any way, in this time of need. With our very sincerest sympathies, Nicholas Warren.

Condolence From: Stuart Ober
Condolence: Kurt was a towering and inspirational figure in our family's lives. His conversations were always lively, thoughtful, and vivid. Kurt and Lore were always very special. They were the first non-family visitors at the hospital when Alexander, our son, was born, and they thoughtfully brought Lore's chicken soup (with no chicken in it!) for Allison to get stronger. While Kurt will be missed, the strength of his warm and generous personality will live on. Stuart, Allison, Erik, and Alexander Ober
