Virginia "Ginny" Cervone
Virginia Cervone, 80, a life-long resident of the area, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, surrounded by her family. Ginny, as she was known by her friends, struggled recently with heart complications and collapsed in her home on Christmas Day.
She was born on June 10, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of Dino and Mary (Cicchetti) Pedreschi. She is predeceased by her mother, father, and stepmother, Edith Pedreschi.
Virginia was devoted to her Catholic faith and set an extraordinary example for her children and those she touched. Her family was the center point of her life, and her love radiated in her actions daily. She was a fantastic cook and loved to read, shop and teach. She served as the Administrative Assistant to the principal at Our Lady of Lourdes High School for over 25 years and was a graduate of Dutchess Community College. In her retirement, she loved to travel with her husband, children, and friends. She also looked forward to spending time with her family on the beach each summer.
Survivors include beloved husband, Louis; sons Dino (Elizabeth) and Louis, Jr. (Julie); daughters Janine (Jim) Thurston and Mary (Jeff) Wall; grandchildren James, Catherine, Lauren, Christina, Louis, Emma, and Michael; sisters Alicia (John) Barnes and Dina Heffernan and brother Michael (Ann) Pedreschi; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3rd at Miller Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, January 4th, 10 a.m. at St Mary’s Church, 231 Church St.
