Obituary for Joan K. Berry

Joan Lee (Kopper) Berry, 79, of Wappingers Falls passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Sapphire Nursing Home in Wappingers Falls. Born in Hudson, N.Y. on December 18, 1938, she was the daughter of the late John and Marian Kopper.
Joan grew up happily in New Paltz, N.Y. surviving youthful adventures too numerous to count while making many lifelong friends. She was graduated from New Paltz High School where she played a mean field hockey and from Krissler Business Institute. She worked at the New York State Department of Public Works where she met Barkley, her future husband. They were married in New Paltz on October 27, 1962.
Joan loved to be around people, laughing and telling stories. She loved large holiday picnics and parties with as many people as could fit in the house. She was fully devoted to her children and grandchildren. They were number one.
Joan was always busy. She liked to cook and was constantly cleaning. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and making something out of what seemed like scraps. She was also an avid reader. Joan enjoyed vacation trips to York Beach, Maine. Her favorite characters were Alf and Garfield and she loved dogs, having as many as three at one time.
Joan is survived by her husband Barkley, her daughters Judy and Diane, and her grandchildren Kevin and Sara. She is also survived by her sister Ann and her best friend Carolyn.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sapphire Nursing Home, Hudson Valley Hospice and her many friends for their loving care and support.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 4 to 6 PM at the William G. Miller Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
