Obituary for Kenneth R. Mannen

Kenneth R. Mannen, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 25, 2018. Born in Waltonville, IL, on January 10, 1939, he was the son of the late Joe and Mary Mannen. Ken served in the armed forces right out of high school, joining the United States Air Force. In 1974 he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Arts from Loyola University in Chicago, IL and on June 26, 1977 he married Carol Jeane Davis in Calumet City, IL, his wife of 41 years, Carol survives at home. Ken worked and traveled extensively during his adult life, working in a variety of positions. As a Project Manager he worked in Thailand, South Vietnam, Great Britain, France and the Philippines. He worked as a Manager of Works Pullman Standard, Chicago, IL and Manager at International Manufacturing in Tulsa, OK. From 1986 to 1991, he was the Managing Director of Unit Rig in Johannesburg South Africa. Ken retired from Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc. in Yonkers, NY in 2010. Ken was dedicated to his work throughout his life. He loved the game of golf and tennis, but his passion for relaxing was out on the river, fly fishing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Deborah Ondricka and her husband, Jeff Bucher of Sacramento CA and his step daughter and her husband, Robin and Bruce Polk of Milan, IL. Two granddaughters, Kelly Elizabeth and Allyce Lynn also survive. There are his two sisters who survive, Terri and her husband Fred Borakove of Amelia Island, FL, and Tammi LeSage of Naperville, IL. Ken was predeceased by his brother, Jerry Mannen, Sr. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00PM at the Wm. G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Ken's name to the ASPCA of Dutchess County, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
