Condolence: Dear Gartland family, My sincere condolences on Mike's passing. Michael Gartland was a truly wonderful man and admired by many in the community. He had a sarcastic wit about him, was a powerful, excellent lawyer but he was always kind and respectful to everyone ~ a character that is sadly rare especially in the adversarial legal profession. As a young associate attorney at the CGR firm many years ago, I looked forward to working for/with Mike on a professional level and really enjoyed listening to the many colorful stories he told about his family - his children and wife were his greatest prize as he spoke of them often, with such warmth and joy and always with a sparkle in his eyes. I have always valued his sage advice. My deepest sympathies on your loss.

Condolence: Dear Pam, Greg, Steven and Pat, My deepest sympathies go out to all of you. Whenever Mike stopped into the flower shop, we always had a fun conversation, whether it was about our days at Lourdes, our fathers, his trips. But more recently, the talk turned to grandchildren, and he was so happy to open the photos on his phone and share them. He loved his family and was proud of all of you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Roberta Brady

Condolence: Pam & Family - Please accept our profound condolences with Mike's passing. As we have come to know and understand, often it is only after someone's passing do we realize the profound impact they had; not only on our life and the lives of so many others. Mike's legacy and impact will last far longer than the pain and loss felt today. Family and Faith are the best means to find your way thru your mourning and uncertainty. Your are all in our thoughts and prayers for peace. Tom & Jeannine

Condolence From: Todd Rumbolt
Condolence: To the Gartland family. I was deeply saddened with the news of Mikes passing. I had the pleasure of guiding Mike on the Minipi watershed in Labrador. Over the years we spent many days fishing, some sunny, some rainy, some successful, some without a bite, but all enjoyable. We didn’t just share fishing stories, however. Mike spoke with pride of his wonderful family and beautiful wife Pam. My family and I extend deepest condolences for your loss. He will be missed. Todd Rumbolt and family Happy Valley Goose Bay, Labrador

Condolence From: Carol Ann Neville
Condolence: Dear Pam, Greg, Steven, Patrick, Dick and Julia, A book can be written about Mike, and maybe one will be, so I feel utterly humbled trying to convey my sentiments. You all have my deep, sincere sympathy. It seems that nearly everyone in Dutchess County knew Mike in some capacity. He was so very much home grown, so deeply and consistently involved in the community. I met Mike in 1992 when I was first hired as the Firm's Administrator. Over the next 22 years I worked with Mike and relied heavily on his history, insight, kindness, wit and intelligence to help me help he and his partners navigate the business of the Firm. He was the heart of the Firm. His beautiful collection of Inuit art filled his office and brought a special bit of beauty, grace and culture to all of us. On occasion I would find excuses to visit him so I could be enriched by this splendid collection of his. I loved how he always referred to his wife, Pam, as "my bride". What an extraordinary, and now so rare, tribute to a long and brilliantly, happy marriage. He will be sorely missed by many, many people. With love, sadness and deep sympathy I offer my prayers and condolences. (and gosh, Mike, I hope I have no typos in this submission because you always were a stickler for proper grammar and punctuation and invariably you found them in my writings.) Carol Ann Neville
