Obituary for Jennifer L. Dickson

Jennifer L. Dickson, 18, of Salt Point, NY, passed away on June 1, 2018 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. She was born on September 23, 1999 in Sharon, Ct., the daughter of Douglas & Diane Groh Dickson. She was attending Arlington High School and studying at Dutchess County B.O.C.E.S. to earn her degree in Cosmetology. She was less than a week away from graduating with honors from B.O.C.E.S. While attending school she was employed at Marion Salon/Spa in Salt Point., NY. Following her graduation she was going to continue at Marion's to pursue her career choice. Her natural talent and ability as a hairdresser promised her a bright future in her chosen field. A day before her death, Jennifer was recognized as an "Outstanding Admiral" in recognition for her hard work and dedication to her craft. Jennifer was involved with the 4H Whinnies-N-Neighs program from the Cornell Co-Operative Extension. She loved all kinds of animals. She began riding horses at age 12 and competed in barrel racing and gymkhana. Jennifer gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation; her organs have restored life’s promise for many families. Jennifer is survived by her mother & fiancée: Diane Dickson & Jim Maine at home; father: Douglas Dickson of Gilmanton, N.H.; sisters: Stephanie Dickson of Mohawk, NY and Kimberly Dickson of Stanfordville, NY. She is also survived by her Paternal Grandmother: Janet Dickson of Stratford, NY and her long time boyfriend Evan Brown. A Cosmetology Scholarship Fund has been started in Jennifer’s honor. If anyone would like to donate to her fund they may send a check payable to Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union and in the memo write: Jennifer Dickson Cosmetology Scholarship Fund and send it to Marion Salon/Spa, 2510 Route 44, Unit 3 Salt Point, NY 12578. There are no calling hours. Services and Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The details of a Memorial Service will be announced at a future date.
